The Roerich estate in Bangalore has several hundreds of paintings of Roerich, the world famous Russian painter. But sadly they are in ruins. Now, a Russian telecom company is in talks with the Karnataka government to restore the paintings & give a facelift to the Tataguni estate in Bangalore.

Have you seen any of his work? His portrait of his wife Devika Rani - the first Dada Saheb Phalke award ( and Rated as one of the world's best looking women in the world by The Vogue Magazine - together with Gayatri Devi of Baroda, and Leela Naidu - although in a different issue) is one of the best portaits I have seen. The painting does full justice to the renowned beauty in her full prime age. It was reproduced in India Today Magazine a few years' ago when Roerich's death was announced. I have a cutting of it framed and hung in my house. I will post it on the site if I can get a copy on the web. By the way I found that the Rembrandt's painting which I intended to post it in my blog got posted to my home page along with my paintings. Can I not post it directly on my blog page? Going back to Roerich, it is only in India we successfully destroy our heritage so completely. It is a shame that the Russians are restoring the estate and not Indians!
