The Great Spirit’s most basic laws!

A long, long time ago, in a world much different than the one we live in today, the Great Spirit traveled through it and imprinted His laws upon the minds of the elders of the 4 tribes of man.

Red - for Indigenous people, White - for European people, Black - for African people and Yellow for Asian people. The colors of the 4 tribes of man were very significant as they also stood for the colors of the medicine wheel.

Let’s take a look at the laws the Great Spirit left so many years ago;

Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect!
Remain close to the Great Spirit
Show great respect for your fellow beings
Work together for the benefit of all mankind!
Give assistance and kindness wherever needed
Do what you know to be right
Look after the well-being of mind and body
Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good
Be truthful and honest at all times
Take full responsibility for your actions.....

At the time that He imprinted these laws, peace and harmony reign upon Mother Earth. Everything was in balance as that was the way that these laws intended things to be. Life was good, for a while.

But change was on the horizon, 3 of the tribes of man were about to leave the teachings of their elders and break the laws of the Great Spirit and leave us with the world that we have today.

Let us look at each law and the effects of it being broken;

“Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect!”
This law was meant to keep us in balance with Mother Earth, by keeping it we would only take what was needed to sustain life and keep harmony and balance with nature and all creatures that dwell on earth.
At some point in time, 3 of the tribes of man, White - Black - Yellow, decided that value could be placed on earth and all the dwell on it. They started to lay claim to her lands, started to clear off her trees, started to kill off her animals for sport. Greed took over as they placed more value upon Mother Earth and they tried to claim even more of her, even the riches that lay underneath her. To the point where today we have vast areas of her life giving forests cleared for our big cities, vast areas of her land cleared and destroyed forever for our coal and oil, major species of her animals going extinct because we have their heads hanging on our walls or their skins on our backs.

“Remain close to the Great Spirit”
This law was to keep us in balance with Him, the Great Spirit, and remind us that all of this, Mother Earth and all that is in it belongs to Him. In staying close with the Great Spirit, we would always keep His laws close to our hearts.
But through the years many have lost touch with the Great Spirit, many have only thought of self and have thought equal to the Great Spirit. They have been able to create things and destroy things, so in this power it has made them blind to the fact that they are not as powerful as they think.

“Show great respect for your fellow beings”
“Work together for the benefit of all mankind!”
“Give assistance and kindness wherever needed”
“Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good”
These laws were handed down to keep us in balance with each other. Respecting each other, working to help or benefit each other, giving assistance when needed and dedicating a share of our efforts for the greater good. With all of these in place life was good. BUT -
At some point in time 3 of the tribes of man stopped respecting their fellow man, as they placed a value on him and made him into slaves. They stopped working together for the benefit of all mankind, as they only worked together for the benefit of their group or nation. They did not give assistance where needed they conquered and took control. They did not dedicate a share of their efforts, they created a tax system to make wealthy a government and pay for armies.
Today, though, they will have you think that they respect fellow beings, as they have created the United Nations to work out problems, but as they sit and debate things in New York, people are still being killed in Darfur, Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world. Medically they will have you think that they are working for the benefit of all mankind, but, most of the diseases they are trying to cure come from the pollution that they have created on our world. Giving assistance, well why are there so many homeless and starving still around this planet.

“Do what you know to be right”
“Look after the well-being of mind and body”
“Be truthful and honest at all times”
“Take full responsibility for your actions”
These laws were created to keep us in balance with self. Following these laws kept a person sound in mind, body and spirit. It help you follow all of the other laws.
But at some point in time 3 of the tribes of man stopped following these laws, greed of the value of things took over and led man to do things he knew were not right. Because of this he was not always truthful and honest at times, as he had to cover up some of the things that he had done. He did not take full responsibility for his actions and would lay blame on others so as to remove his guilt. As his wealth grew so did his gluttony and he did not take care of his body anymore, when his lies started and he wasn’t truthful anymore he stopped taking care of his mind.
Today, the same thing continues, as owners of major companies will dump toxic waste anywhere, no matter how many people it injures or kills, then will lie and cover it up and not take responsibility for their actions. You will also turn on talk show after talk show and see people speaking about diet plans or 2 year olds that are over 100 pounds, so people are not taking care of their bodies. And the #1 selling books in book stores other than the Bible, (which has sold the most copies worldwide) are self-help books, which says that people are in need of help with their minds and spirits.

What has happened in the so many years since the Great Spirit left these 10 very simple laws to the elders of the 4 tribes of man? What would this world be like if people had just continued to follow these simple laws? Where would we be today?

Well, we would have clean air, water and no ozone depletion. We would not have animal species going extinct. We would not have major corporations putting profits before people. We may not have the amount of diseases that we have. We might not have hunger and homelessness. We might not have war. We might have a society that we all could be proud of and all say that I am a citizen of Mother Earth.

Greed, gluttony, selfishness and thinking we have equality to the Creator have all created to the mess that we have today. Only by reversing these thoughts and returning to the very simple and basic laws He gave so very long ago, do we have a half a chance at returning balance to our lives and our earth.

Something to think about.

Just one man’s opinion. As always, put the wind in your hair and keep the sun to your back. Be good and stay safe. Peace, Love and prosperity to all.

Good Journeys !!!

I like the topics you choose, because they are closer to the hearts of scientists. But what is this great Spirit?
The Great Spirit is in Native culture the ONE ~ Who created Mother Earth and gave life, He is the ONE who guides the soul and minds of men to a better plane of reality, to be in balance with all of creation.... To be close with the Great Spirit is to be in balance and harmony with everything around you, (man, nature, self)
