Beginning next fall, the six dancers will interpret various scientific concepts like gravitational waves and black holes into a dance that will be choreographed by Warfield. The performances will include backdrops specially designed to help portray the scientific concept being performed on the stage by the six dancers who are deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students at the Rochester Institute of Technology National Technical Institute for the Deaf (RITNTID).
The project will involve the College of Science, the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, Astrophysicist Manuela Campanelli, and NTID dance director Thomas Warfield.
Specific performance dates will be announced at a later time.
Warfield has choreographed numerous productions throughout his career that include a performance by street sweepers, motor bikes, Segways, construction machines, and various other non traditional dancer routines.
