New Art Crime MA brings students to Italy

The leafy town of Amelia, in the Italian province of Umbria, has become the site of what is billed as the first interdisciplinary MA course on crimes against art, the New York Times reports. The course, which was initiated by American Noah Charney, who is also the founding director of the group that sponsors it, the Association for Research Into Crimes Against Art, tutors on international art theft, organised crime, forgery and art history. According to Charney, Italy has the highest number of art-related crimes in the world so it's fitting the course should take place there. The degree is not as yet formally recognised by an accredited university, but Charney is in talks with institutions to gain accreditation.
