Walking Man I sets $104.3mn record
A life-size bronze sculpture of a man in mid-stride, his arms hanging at his side made history by being the most expensive work of art ever sold at an auction. On 3rd, Feb, 2010, Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti's 1961 creation "Walking Man I (L'homme qui Marche I) was sold to an anonymous buyer for over $104.3 million, beating Pablo Picasso's "Boy with a pipe" which sold for $104.16mn in 2004. both sales were made by auction house Sotheby's.
