Tagore's art fetches 1.6 million pounds

Nobel laureate Rabindanath Tagore's  12 paintings sold for 1.6 million at the Indian art auction by Sotheyby's in London on 15th June 2010 exceeding the estimated price by more than six fold.
Though Tagore started his painting career late, he was quite prolific & produced 2,000 works in the last 10 years of his life that included doodles, scratch art, figures, wildlife and naturescapes. He once said " The world speaks to me in colours, my soul answers in music."
