HIGHLY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE

are at RISK from

MODERATELY INTELLIGENT judges and analysts.

Because they don't understand them properly and accurately to give them the highest grades, awards and prizes.

Judging intelligent people by unintelligent standards" means assessing someone with high intelligence using criteria that would be more appropriate for someone with lower intelligence, often leading to an inaccurate or unfair evaluation, as the less intelligent person might not understand the complexities involved in the situation or decision-making process of the more intelligent individual.

Key points about this concept:
Dunning-Kruger Effect: This cognitive bias plays a role, where people with lower ability tend to overestimate their own competence, making them less capable of accurately judging those with higher intelligence.
Misunderstanding complexity: Someone with lower intelligence might not grasp the nuances of a complex situation, leading them to judge an intelligent person's actions or decisions based on a superficial understanding.
Oversimplification: When judging someone intelligent, an unintelligent person might simplify the situation too much, failing to appreciate the depth of thought or reasoning behind their actions.
Examples:
  • A manager criticizing a highly skilled employee for taking too long to complete a task, without considering the complexity of the work involved .
  • A friend dismissing a well-researched opinion as "overthinking" because they don't fully understand the topic .
  • A community member criticizing a politician's complex policy proposal as "too complicated" without fully comprehending its implications

How do you feel when people around you don't understand you in the right way or don't understand you at all.

I face this situation very often. That is why despite their complaints I try to be alone most of the time or spend time with people of my calibre though I am in the communication field. I try my best to build bridges but when people refuse to raise above certain level what can you do about it?

So should intellectuals subject themselves to being judged at all?
Then how can they get recognition if they don't get these things in a world where these are considered as yardsticks to success?

The song "Vincent" comes to my mind when I think about this.

Starry, starry night Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue
Colors changing hue Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
Now I understand What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not love you But still, your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight on that starry, starry night
You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you
Starry, starry night Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn, a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now I think I know What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will.

There is a saying: The less intelligent a person is, the more they judge others in an unearned attempt at feeling superior.
And some don't even know that they are not capable of judging intelligence, but still they do!
But it is very, very painful to subject yourself to judgement by  less intelligent people than you are because that would almost always end in a disaster!
