Q: Intelligent people have some flaws. How did you overcome yours?
Krishna: Am I intelligent? When you pointed this out to me, I was confused. Because I consider being an intellectual more attractive than being intelligent . I aim to be an intellectual, not mere intelligent!
Okay, now let me answer your Q.
I did have some negative traits people attribute to intelligence earlier. How did I overcome this?
Being in several fields really helped me. For instance I enjoy solitude and feel alone in crowds. I used to be socially awkward earlier. I don't like pretensions to attract people and can't say things that are not true to please people.
I stay away from small talk and people who do such things.
However, the art world taught me to "tolerate '' these social situations. I didn't change completely but can 'manage' to a large extent now. While still sticking to my rules I can now do things more efficiently than most people.
That is like what people say, 'have the cake and eat it too' - being in your intellectual world but enjoying various other worlds too.
I have some friends but if anybody - friends, relatives or people - tries to disturb my work by demanding too much of my time, I softly make them realize that my work is more important to me than doing silly things. They do understand and respect my time and views.
I do question things. People put up with that because they cannot answer my Qs! They stay away from doing things I don't like before me. I try to tolerate some things by understanding and people try to tolerate my questioning because they respect me. It is mutual and I sculpted my friendships and relationships that way. I don't face any problems because of this.
I don't feel depressed or sad or lonely. I try to understand all types of people, their mental states, and enjoy the games people play with a quirky smile. Feel sorry for some.
I point out flaws in the understanding of science ( which is considered a negative trait), because I want to pull people to my level but can put it in an enduring way and correct people and their work. I love getting corrected too if somebody does it in the right way but this doesn't happen at all!
I can also tolerate personality flaws as much as possible and as long as they don't hurt or harm others but the moment I think somebody is crossing the red line, I will interfere softly.
I 'overthink' about some issues but they all lead to creative solutions and works. I made that a positive trait too.
Yes, I get bored easily with ordinary things. So I try to mix extraordinary things with the ordinary, making them interesting too.
I play with children, I become a child and try to learn, enjoy, think, play, forgive and forget and have the best of all worlds.
In a way, I am highly satisfied with my life and world.
Who says intellectuals can't enjoy their lives?
The world is a weird place. you can always carve it in the way you want to have harmony in your life if you are intelligent.
How about using your own intelligence to overcome intelligent-induced problems? That is being really smart! :)
