Being good is your mental state
You are what your biology and biochemistry dictate
Both physical and mental states
So don't try to integrate
Biochemistry and  fate
If you translate
Your disabling accident
Which is a chance becoming a reality ornate
Or body chemistry making something inside to ulcerate
Into karma innate
That is an irrational trait

One can face good or bad events in life
That struggle is unending strife
If you critically analyse
You realise
That is  universe's tantalise
If you categorise
Situations into  good or bad shapes
That is based on the conditions your culture or religion or family impose
On you to moralise

This universe doesn't care about  morals you get taught

What battles and wars you fight

And which mass of atoms gets what or feels or suffers what.

This universe doesn't make any discrimination like that

Fairness? That is not what this universe cares about

NO! In the end it is all a random chance what you got!

                                                 --

[Wrote as an answer to the Q I was asked on Karma
Krishna: Karma is just a belief.

Your friend is good. He is compassionate too. That is his mental state.

We are what our biochemistry dictates. Even our mental states.

If he is permanently disabled (due to a medical condition), that is his physical state. That again depends on the body's biochemistry.

If his disability is due to an accident, that is a chance that became a reality.

Karma or this person's actions earlier or in previous birth ( to those who believe in them) has nothing to do with it.

Many good people face bad events in their life and bad people might face good ones.

Good and bad are what you think based on the conditions your culture or religion or family imposed on you. This universe doesn't care about them and which mass of atoms gets what or feels or suffers what.

It is a random chance.

This universe doesn't make any discrimination like that.

Fairness? Does the universe care ( about your morals)? NO!]
