The creativity that can occur when a feel for both the humanities and the sciences combine in one strong personality was the topic that most interested me in my biographies of Franklin and Einstein, and I believe ... will be a key to creating innovative economies in the twenty-first century - Walter Issacson (author of Steve Jobs biography)

"The ability to take intellectual risks, to think creatively, and to create new knowledge and thought are all-necessary for leaders to meet 21st-century challenges."

Students' wonder car gives petrol a run for its money
Wonders never cease. Students of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai on Tuesday unveiled an energy-efficient car which they say is capable of achieving 300km per litre of fuel under test conditions. That would make petrol cheaper than water.

The wonder car named 'Jugaad' is a single-seater weighing a mere 60kg, 10kg lesser than the weight of its creator Kunal Jain. Yet it maintains a good balance and does not swerve as you drive. We have tested this vehicle on the roads near our college and have found it has the potential to reach 300km per litre,'' he says. The vehicle runs on petrol.

Here's an inventive artist/scientist collaboration from Scott Minneman and JD Beltran called the cinema snowglobe project.

( I feel they should have done some really interesting developmental work. Wasted Time and playful tricks!- Krishna)

Some other opinions:

It's another display device, with massive distortions. In short, an artist, with the resources of a major production facility sitting on their desk, and enough know-how and talent to use it effectively.
Ironically, this is no longer innovative, it stopped being innovative a decade ago, maybe more.

It is no longer innovative; but how it is applied can be innovative. The problem is that the ideas are brimming, but have no coherence. The technology and production methodology do have coherence, and I will state categorically that there is nothing experimental about them; but the ideas are whirling around, and in need of some form.
