The words good and bad are dealt with differently in science and art.

In art there may not be fixed values for deciding good works or bad works ( which cannot be done accurately because your opinions are just based on perceptions which differ from person to person and place to place). If an artist  creates an art work the theme depends on his/her opinions, beliefs, ideas which again are based on his/her perception of the world around him and cultural conditioning of his mind. Again when a critique expresses his opinion on it, it again depends on the perception of the critique depending on his mental conditions. As everything is based on perception and not on facts and rules, the words good and bad cannot have definite meaning in art.

However,  in science we have a definition for good science! Majority of scientists and science journals follow it and it says: If you can get to the bottom of facts following rules and try to unravel the mysteries of Nature and in turn if these can be used to help the world, it is good science. If you use unlawful means to arrive at conclusions and try to manipulate things to show that your beliefs or ideas are right or if your work harms the world that is bad science! This definition could be arrived at because of universal outlook of science.

To be more accurate to define good and bad in science - these rules are formulated:

1. In science you have to follow certain rules and guidelines.

2. Your work should be based on facts and not on your opinions and beliefs.

3. Your work should be able to withstand peer reviews which are again done by taking facts and rules into account.

4. Replication is very important in science. Your results should be able to tally with those of others' working  in the same set of conditions.

5. Making observations, collecting facts and data, creating hypothesis, deducing implications, re-evaluation of the hypothesis, testing the implications, subjecting the hypothesis to peer review all should follow correct procedure and rules in good science.

If you try to manipulate anything here that will become pseudo-science and your work will not be accepted by scientific community.
