Science, Art, Litt, Science based Art & Science Communication
We want to give information on science-art courses around the world. kkArtLab is one of the sites where you can learn about Bioptical art. This is a free course and started on experimental basis. If this succeeds - as artists find it too technical to follow and we are trying to simplify it - we will start courses in Biology and other science subject based art.
1. You can learn Bioptical art taught by Mr. Iliescu, who has more than fifty years of experience in the Bioptical art research, here:

Art therapy is an emerging and dynamic field in the mental health profession that uses art media as its primary mode of communication, such as paint, chalk, crayons and sculpture. Art therapy is especially valuable for clients who have difficulties verbally expressing themselves. The University of Haifa is the only accredited academic institution in Israel to offer a graduate degree in this vital and growing field.
The Academic Program
The MA in Art Therapy is a year-long program, taught over three consecutive semesters in English. The program (MA Program in Art Therapy) includes academic coursework at the University in the fall and spring semesters. During the summer semester, students participate in a practicum and receive individual and group supervision. Upon completion of the program (MA Program in Art Therapy), students will earn a master of arts in Creative Arts Therapies with a specialization in Art Therapy.
General Admission Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Creative Arts
http://www.huntingtonnews.net/71858
Therapy Approved at West Liberty University
Art therapy is a field of psychology that relies on art and creativity to explore trauma and seek healing for a wide range of individuals. West Liberty University recognized the importance of this growing profession and has successfully created a program that is attracting attention, the Bachelor of Science in Creative Arts Therapy degree.
It is now approved by the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Educational Objectives
For several years the College of Arts and Communication has recognized an increasing interest in the art therapy field from incoming freshmen. The Bachelor of Science degree in Creative Arts Therapy provides a course of study and a way to explore and practice a wide range of solution-focused therapies with opportunities to build professional portfolios. The educational objective of the program is to provide a curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science degree for students interested in careers in this or related fields, as well as further study at the graduate level.
This degree broadens the scope of the Division of Art at West Liberty University giving students the option to choose a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education, a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Design or the brand-new Creative Arts Therapy degree.
Art Therapists work with a variety of populations including at-risk children, adolescents, adults, and seniors; people with addictions, emotional, developmental, mental and physical health challenges. Children with autism and autism-spectrum disorder have unique learning and social needs that can find expression through art.
Graduates of the new degree program at WLU will be fully prepared to enter a master’s program of their choice and become fully licensed by the American Art Therapy Association.

Art outreach program puts learning in motion
Missile Defense Agency’s STEM Outreach recently hosted fourth- and fifth-grade girls from Girls Inc. for the third consecutive year of MDA Engineering in Art, a weeklong Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program.
Twenty-five girls examined kinetic sculptures, studied artists and pondered the potential synergies between science, engineering and art. The results were astounding.
This summer’s program began with touring the Huntsville Museum of Art and an overview of famous artists, such as Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and Jean Tinguely. Throughout the week, girls participated in hands-on activities to facilitate gaining experiential knowledge of balance, force, friction, kinetics, line, mass, motion, shape and texture. Engineers, scientists and other professionals, guided the girls during sessions with building and creating projects.
A host of MDA personnel volunteered, including Pamela Blackwell, Mellany George, Melody George-Jones, Nora Happner, Marie Hickox, Patrick Johnson, Bradley Ketchner, Judy Liaw, Kelsey Livesay and LaAndrea McDonald. MDA volunteers were a real-life example of people working in the engineering disciplines learned, such as electrical, mechanical and software engineering.
The girls acquired firsthand knowledge of the engineering design process and developed a greater understanding of basic linear measurements. They made pinwheels to understand air or wind as a force, and constructed vibratiles as their first kinetic sculpture. They also used the engineering design process to guide them while building parachutes. Applying their engineering knowledge, the girls created their own hanging mobiles that illustrated balancing mass and reducing friction.
MDA Engineering in Art: 3D Art in Motion is one of the many programs offered by MDA STEM Outreach. To read about other programs and view information, visit www.mda.mil/stemoutreach. For questions about activities and course offerings, call Stephanie Malone, executive director of Girls Inc., at 859-0011, or Laura Smith, education director of Huntsville Museum of Art, at 535-4350.

Think Tank, EcoTarium team for fall classes
This September, small groups of children, most of them middle-school age and home-schooled, will begin learning in a different kind of classroom.
Their new classroom will blend art and science in a rare way and take advantage of one of Worcester's gems, long noted for education: the EcoTarium, on Harrington Way.
Art Biology, CSI Wild Worcester, Art/Space Exploration and Applied Digital Photography are being offered for 10 to 12 weeks to students 9 to 12 (digital photography is offered to older students and adults from the community).
The courses will also take advantage of the significant resources of the EcoTarium, not your usual schoolroom advantages: a planetarium, a living wildlife collection and a building full of science and nature exhibits are the stuff that's usually only offered on a one-off class trip.

Art and Science
Students of all science-related majors and students interested in science are invited to take this DeCal where you will undertake a creative project based on areas of scientific passion. This DeCal is meant to provide an experience for those who seek to combine their love of art and science in a single, culminating work.
Examples of possible projects include: a work of creative nonfiction on the development and ultimate failure in clinical trials of a particular drug; a short documentary film on patients with Alzheimer’s; a photo-essay tracing one woman’s course of chemotherapy for breast cancer and the science associated with her treatment; a collection of poems about global warming; memory in relation to smells; habitat loss; alterations of ecosystems; a multimedia exhibit of diversity under the microscope, including photography, narration, and music; a series of paintings or sculptures that celebrate biodiversity.
These are just a few ideas—any creative medium or combination of media may be used to explore a concept of personal interest in science.
Students will participate in creative workshops (based on art and science) to help them brainstorm about their own projects. These workshops will occasionally have a guest speaker. The course will occasionally have readings related to art and science projects and the work put into their creative processes. Once they propose to the facilitators about their project, the rest of the DeCal will be geared towards helping them create their project. In the middle of the semester, the students will learn how to write a press release, which will be a crucial skill for them to know how to do in the world of art and/or science. The students will also be writing a reflection paper on their project and the importance of art and science. Lastly, at the end of the DeCal, we will have a show for the students for them to showcase their projects.
How to Enroll:
To obtain a CCN code, email nataliemal@berkeley.edu with a blurb about yourself containing your name, year, major(s), and what you would be interested in creating as your project!
If you are interested in the course and want to learn more, email nataliemal@berkeley.edu with any questions!
Please put “Art and Science” in the subject line of all emails.
