Bacteria Compass from c-lab on Vimeo.
Nanomagnetic particles affecting bacteria expressing red fluorescent proteins to behave like compass needles.
This experiment is part of C-LAB's exploration with magnetic nanoparticles and living organisms, such as Nanomagnetic Plants and ongoing projects of nanomagnetic bacteria. In the video we demonstrate how magnetic nanoparticles can influence and control the orientation of E.coli bacteria. The bacteria used were genetically engineered with a red fluorescent expression construct to help visualise the influence of the particles.
