If you don`t mind, want to show a composition , where everybody can imagine no interest at all about money or things like that.Your answer belongs to another forum.

Do you mean to say all the "great artists" produce only top class art? If the art world doesn't tolerate so so talent, more than half of the art work here should have been banned! The truth that it still flourishes, is proof enough to say it tolerates all sorts of art. Some great artists' ordinary works too sell for mind blogging amounts of money. Here artists depend on their names & Investors buy just by seeing the names. Not art. Please see the recent article added in the group ART COLLECTORS MIND READER.

Some get to the top because they are marketing mauvericks not because they are great artists! We are living in a pseudo-world of greatness! What is great to a marketing person might not appeal to an art critic. But what most of the people buy is what marketing person says is great! If a person is not able to sell his art, does it mean he is not producing good art? I feel some great art works fail to attract buyers because they didn't fit into marketing strategies well. When I see the list of great artists, I usually see names only from certain regions of the world. Does it mean there are no great artists in other parts of the world? Come on, we are not fools to believe everything what the art world says.

I was expecting this;
Nooo, I did not say ,Great Artist only produce great Art, and the Art world does not ban art.
Even so, I would like to see some of the," Ordinary Works that sell for mind boggling prices" or are we talking about Marketing now, another Form.
When I speak about The Art World , I am speaking about about people who know what Great Art is, Art that will stand the test of Time., People who not only talk about Art but can produce it , People who make their Living from their Art. People who spend their lives studying Art.
There are in fact many fine painters here , who do produce fine work. How many make their living from only their own work , 2% perhaps. This is to take nothing away from them. I have seen where a man taught an elephant to paint with his trunk, another taught a monkey. Then there was a Man who let live earth worms in water color on canvas to create his works at $10,ooo. each.
you should really try an take some college Art classes. Find a good instructor and try to produce just one marketable work. I don't mean marketable to friends or relatives or not by your very famous Name, "Dr. I know more that all of you and don't forget it". Do something and sell it an an unknown to an unknown. Then you will understand what I mean by ," What the Art World will Tolerate". Then come ome back and show us all how simple it is.

I have already sold my work to unknown persons! So now you know I have learned the tricks of the trade. I start discussions to learn about art from people who have University degrees in fine art & also from those who learn from life's experiences & nothing is unimportant to me. I learn things everyday & every moment of my life. One person recently commented on my work saying that my work looks like Renaissance Art rather than modern day science art. I was thrilled to hear this because people understand simple art they can relate to & I know complicated art & complicated science becomes too complex for people to understand. Most art lovers prefer to buy art that they can relate to. I am doing research on art collectors - the group- art collector's mind reader - is related to this. Once you read the minds of collectors you can sell your work! Need I have a degree in fine arts to become good artist? I don't think so because several artist friends of mine told me they learned very little in art schools & more through life's experiences. The most famous & top artist in India now - MF Hussain never attended any art school & is a self -taught artist like me. So don't worry. I don't do work to sell but if my work is liked by someone & wants to buy it, I will sell it but with a little bit of sadness!

Many good thoughts I see on the concept of art on this page.Stephen,Maurice,Ayla,Marcelino,Gurmeet and of course Dr.Krishna. Each has very rightly deduced and concluded the true pursuit of an artist. An artist will get appeased only when he attains the supreme liberation of his soul. SO? PAINT ON.......PRINCE

Evolution Hangover

Description: Sometimes we wonder why men behave like animals and not like more evolved human beings. Maybe they are suffering from evolution hangover.

This is the work LT is talking about. Thanks for understanding my work in the way I do LT. Yes, my work from science is simple but conveys a good message. I don't care about commercial aspects. If people understand what I was trying to say, that is more than enough for me. Not all artists create works for money. I create them to convey messages from science with relevance to human nature. I am not a trained artist but I do my work in the way I feel fit the theme. I am surprised people accept & appreciate it. Good work is the one that stands the test of time & is relevant till infinity. Can works that are visual treats & created for commercial purposes stand the test of time? We will have to think about this Q.

LT said:
Marcelino my friend, do not use me as a measurement for what is art. I am a odd duck, what I see is not what most people see. But I will give you an example.
There is a piece of art on here named "Evolution Hangover" it is for me a great example of the point I was trying to make. It is not a great painting, the shapes are a bit flat and not a very commercial painting at all. But it hits truth right in the eye. We are just barley out of the jungle and most of the time we act like animals not humans. This painting points that out. The little bit of humanity we have is so often covered up by our animal past. It is brilliant! A simple truth but so rarely talked about or understood.
It may be just me that sees it this way but thats okay. I love it.

Dear Krishna,
I follow my heart, art without feeling is just a customer product, right?
I would rather say that the 'art world' is as glamourous as it is ridiculous, there is not only room for bad talents , there are rooms for tanks of rubbish. In the Chinese art market, you can buy the title of a 'Most promising art talent' just by paying 2700 renminbi, in fact I have considered paying for this title, but so far I haven't made up my mind, why do I consider buying this title? Because I think that this might help me selling my paintings, I do not deny that if I can sell my paintings I should be very happy. But personally I have not much respect for a title bought with money and I am not sure if that title can help me to sell my paintings. That is the reason why until now I haven't paid for that title yet. If I am sure that a title can help to boost my art sells, I will buy it. In the Chinese art world a small circle of authorities build a great Catheral and raised thier favorites, or people with some kind of social support , to the pedestals of Great Artists, and wealthy classes would be led to worhip and pay homage to them. We are all taught and made to believe that paintings which can fetch the hightest prices in the auction markets are unquestionally Great arts. Such an illusion in fact is true for the art world everywhere, not only China. When an artist becomes famous, he is the manipulater of the art scene. He no longer needs to pay any efforts to build up his paintings, because anything produced by him will be Great Art, so Picasso at the end of his life had become a manipulater, whatever he painted would be regarded as masterpieces, so why should he paint with his soul and mind? The spectators have become his playthings, he is the dictator, and all spectators are his followers, this is the game of the slave becoming the master and the master becoming the slave, this is the game of the Art Commerce. It is a glamourous game and it is very ridiculous ,it is as crooked and quacky as any commerce, yet the world love to play it.
I have plenty of reasons not to take 'Being an artist' too seriously, what is the difference between an artist and a plumber? Does being an artist put you on a higher pedestal than a plumber? I don't like this game of the art world yet I like my paintings, I paint because I enjoy doing my paintings and I do not mind how much you pay for my paintings, as long as you buy what you like, then it is great art, not any amount of money can define my art.

The Chinese art scene you described can be seen in India too. Like you said it is the same everywhere. You pay money - you become a great & happening artist. The more great you become, the more greedy you become too.
You have a choice: Spend money & become great & greedy to get several times more money than you spent or refuse to become a part of this game & remain unknown in your life time but enjoy creating art that satisfies your soul!

If I am rich, I don't mind spending money to get famous, after all the art market is like any other markets, we must pay to get known, but I am a retired woman with just enough money to keep me alive, but I am very contented to be able to afford to have painting as my hobby, this hobby helps me to pass my time as well as to enrich my life.

The entire topic is somewhat immature This sound like the sort of discussion one hears over and over by first year art students . The best thing about being an Artist is that it is the only Profession where you can not lose. If you never sell your work ,then its because you are too far out there to be understood, your too deep , ahead of your time. your just so intuitive and unwilling to compromise your exceptional talent and ability because your a misunderstood Genius. After all your work comes from your heart and soul. Why your another Van-Goah On the other hand if you make a lot of Money, then you are again a Successful Natural Genius ,as you always knew you were, Because your work comes from your heart and soul and your. Your another Picasso .
Van-Goah's life unknowingly to him created a myth about; " The struggling, misunderstood Genus Artist" in that , suffering ,and self sacrifice some how Legitimizes ones Art. Nothing could be father form the truth. The fact is many Artist were and are very very financially successful form their Art work.
The fact of life is ,just because someone crap on canvas in an attempt to reveal their deepest emotions does not make them an Artist. Or maybe it does, in a kind of ," Oh look what my three year old can do" way.
Good Art , is hard work and Great Art is God Damn Hard work..
Like any of the Arts, there is no room for bad Talent. One can be a so-so Dr. or Plumber and still make a living. Not so the Art World. The Art World will Not Tolerate so so Talent. There is lots of room on Top. Getting there, well that is the problem.
Talent...most everyone has some degree of Talent , anyone can draw or sing or dance but if this talent is never developed and guided and coaxed to its fullest potential , then it may remain just , common trite talent.
Lastly; I have studied and painted all my life. I know that am a my degree of talent is somewhat limited an common. I have learned in the end, Art is just art. The Art World builds Great Cathedrals to our Saint Cezanne's and Pope Pizarro's and fills them with their Great works so we may go worship and pay Homage . I do not think that my Creator will be impressed with all my fine paintings when I face him. No , not at all. The Greatest Good anyone can do with their life is to help their fellow Human Beings, all else is meaningless vanity.
Art is just that ;Art..if you enjoy making it, if it makes you or others happy then do it How about painting solely for the Sheer Fun of it. Art has nothing to do with who you are ..its just Art.

I do write poems on themes related to my art work. I am a writer & a designer too. I feel all these creative things are linked & if you are good at one you will not have any problem in doing other things. When your trinity speaks ( Please see my other discussion on scientific explanation of creativity), you will become a natural genius. No University degrees can match your talent then. There is a group for poets & You can post your poems related to your art there. You can see some of my poems posted in the group. I don't even get time to add all my poems. Whenever I find time, I post one or two.
Your poems are very sweet, Ayla.
Basic education is going out of fashion now. People are stressing on job-oriented knowledge. Is the art of writing poems job - oriented? No, so nobody cares about it. You write poems because your hear t, soul & mind feel happy when you do that. People argue that only when your stomach is full your heart sings by seeing things around you & reacting to them & can write poems happily. And you need a job for filling your pocket & stomach. Poetry comes next. But I read a poem on hunger too - obviously the poet wrote it when he was hungry. So the argument doesn't have a firm ground. All poets know they write it because they want to do it as it makes them happy. Who cares about job or money? We don't need good education to write poems. Anybody who has a heart & mind that can interact with his surroundings can write poetry.

most education is based on objective thinking...therefore money springs up all the time...has education lost its sense of poetry and the personal as it madly goes forth into what it thinks is great progress...its progress allright but has lost the many varied layers poetry has to offer and at school if you try to be subjective then one feels your holding up the show..did not god say when he was here and reports convinced that he was god and even the authorites were nervous of the man called jesus when he said he came for all nations and that means everyone...gosh everyone...what love and he said he was also composed of the truth..meaning that those of us assumed dull or boreing are also part of jesus..poets in schools give the authorites headaches because authorites gear students for money ideas ONLY if we are honest about this..sure to stand back and look at poets or jazz we could grin and ridicule them...but the wealth poets have is so staggering this message sadly would not be able to contain the number of credits as poetry is a process river while objective facts end in a finished product and this can arise in poor health of the producer limiting the flow which poetry can bring...i choose poetry not because its unpopular but in time like the rabbit and the snail in a race ...the snail wins because the rabbit fancies his distractions along the race..the distractions of money convenience and hoildays due to the never satisfied finished product thats pretends to be finished..as they go madly back to work to discover a new angle ....as this is a chance for more money but alas same old product sweating for a new angle for another bonas as the holidays are advanceing quicker due to the calander celibrations..however the other end of the stick the personal side either goes away sulking with no paid job or strikes gold with his poetry and discovers a process that is never ending and not too demanding as the money is slow to come in but looks promiseing...there is idea joy here and the other side full of stress has money joy..why does education ignore the poet and nurture his luck and favour the money facts..its dangerous not to support the poet..suicide...its not such a risk to leave someone without money..have we gone cowardly and become cruel in knowledge
