Krishna: Science makes us understand the facts correctly. If you understand the facts, you never feel anything bad or good about it.
We all came from star dust and energy. And go to it again. In never ending cycles, each atom of our bodies goes to other forms, including the living ones both while we are still living and after our deaths. Atoms from other bodies come to us. There will be atoms that have been inside a living cell that started 3.5 billion years ago on our planet and are still in living cells today. Matter will be turned into energy and energy into mass. We belong to everything and everything belongs to us! A group of cells composed of atoms and energy in our brains makes us conscious with their work. It is the reason why we think, feel emotions including pain. But can't we channel that consciousness into realizing reality and face it with courage? We can, certainly!
We all belong to one universe. We were born here as a result of coming together of a few atoms and some energy and the resultant consciousness. In the end we will return to the place where we came from. The bits and energy our bodies are made of will be returned to the universe for the recycling process to continue.
In the process we meet some forms like us who too came together with the help of atoms and energy and consciousness, who we call relatives and friends and inanimate things like our houses, cars, money etc. which we think are ours. They are ours only till we are here as conscious beings. Realize this. They are actually owned by the universe we came from, not us. And go back to it! We just borrowed those things from the universe for a life time (1). That is the eternal truth!
After our deaths and destruction we too return back to the universe as individual atoms and energy, to the one body that recycles them and we all belong to whether we lived with our conscious bodies or existed as inanimate forms.
It is wonderful to think we all belong to one body, the universe, that processes and reprocesses atoms and energy into different configurations, bring them together in space and time, and then change the situations again to bring in new scenes of appearances. Nobody is going anywhere here and nothing is staying here forever in one form! So no one is departing from this universe, the atoms and energy we are made of are leaving only one form and from the site we are in but still be here in other arrangements and other spots in this one entity we call universe. That is what science tells us. Isn't it comforting too to think about the truth?
I can smile because I can understand things exactly as a scientist should.
Death is inevitable. Every living being dies. That is the reality. Be prepared for it.
There will be a cause. Whatever yours is, accept it with dignity.
The Biochemistry of a living being is highly complex. There will be millions of actions and reactions going on in a human body during its lifetime. Anything can go wrong at any time. If this happens, and when the probability becomes reality, you will have to face the health consequences. Science is trying to understand them and interfere to manage them in a better way.
But if things don't fall in the right place or your life systems are damaged beyond control, death is inevitable.
Nobody or nothing can stop this.
When several factors decide outcomes, they follow the interplay of scientific rules and routes and exactly fit into the reaction realities.
I can see this entire picture before my eyes.
That is why I can stay calm.
I borrowed the atoms and energy in my body from this universe just for a lifetime. I cannot keep these borrowed things with me forever. They belonged to someone or something else for a brief period earlier. Now they are in my body. I must return them to the universe for the recycling process to continue. After my death, they will become another person's or body's temporary possessions.
There is no actual death or complete destruction. Only exchange of material. From one body to another. The flow continues.
The atoms and energy in your body continue to exist in other forms after your body ceases to exist in this form.
Why worry about taking new forms? When this form cannot work anymore because of the condition it encountered, let it accept the truth and happily transform into other entities.
There is no 'I, me, or myself'. There is only 'we, or ourselves'.
And there is only one universe to which all the forms , either living or non-living, belong. And this Universe is a single entity.
I am everything and everybody here.
Just because some atoms and energy came together to become a body in which certain atoms and energy became neurons by getting arranged in a definite way and working in a particular way of the brain, does that become a definition for "I"? That 'I' came from your mind and consciousness. That 'I' will not have any significance after a specific lifetime of yours because the arrangement of these atoms and energy working in a particular way become redundant.
That "I" has no meaning in the big picture of the universe. That is why this universe doesn't care which form is taking birth or taking a shape, suffering, or getting destroyed. There will be many "I" s in the working conditions of a few neurons and they all become meaningless after a brief period.
So why worry about a temporary "I"?
Think about the relatively permanent universe and its magnificent ways of working.
That will put a smile on your face forever in all conditions and situations.
There are no good or bad situations.
There is just eternal peace and bliss. Enjoy it (2,3).

In 100 years, in 2123, we will all be buried/cremated with our relatives and friends/turned into ask or dust.
Strangers will live in our houses, which we fought so hard to build, and they will own everything we have today. All our possessions will belong to unknown people who haven't even been born yet... including that car for which you spent a fortune; it will probably be in a scrapyard, or at best, in the hands of an unknown collector.
Our descendants, few or almost none of them, will know who we were or remember us. How many of us know our great-grandfather's father?
After our death, we will be remembered for a few years, then we will be just a portrait on someone's shelf, and a few years later, our story, our photos, and our achievements will be thrown into the oblivion of history... we won't even be memories.
Perhaps if one day we stopped to ponder these questions, we would realize how ignorant and weak the dream of acquiring everything was...
If only we could think about it, surely our approaches, our thoughts would change; we would be different people...
Having more and more, without having time for what truly matters in this life... I would change all of this to live and enjoy those walks I never took... those hugs I never gave... those kisses to our children and loved ones... those jokes we never had time for. Those would certainly be the best moments to remember; they would fill our lives with joy...
And how we waste it all, day after day, with greed, greed, and intolerance!
