Q: Why can't we get back our consciousness after our death?
Krishna: People believing in certain irrational things ask such questions.
That is because some people believe that souls exist, they take birth again, our consciousness outlives and remains even after our death. They also believe in cosmic consciousness (is a term which refers to a state of mind that transcends 'ordinary' consciousness. Whereas the latter seems to be individual, if not even someone's property, the former escapes the boundaries of the single individual; in that respect, it is literally incomprehensible).
There is absolutely no evidence to say these things exist at all or are true.
According to evidence-based science, after our death, all the atoms in our body are released into nature by the process of  decomposition. Then they are recycled and become parts of other things, both living and non-living.  Nothing exists as 'you' in this birth anymore.
Consciousness: the state of being Awake and AWARE of ONE’S surroundings.
The term consciousness  refers to several  aspects involving both its levels (sleep, coma, dreams and waking state) and contents (subjective, phenomenal and objective). Consciousness is always awareness of something for the individual - the having of perceptions, thoughts, and feelings. Consciousness is a subjectively experienced, ever-present field in which things (the contents of consciousness) come and go.
According to neuro-science the brain alone produces consciousness. The combined activity of billions of neurons in the brain gives rise to a conscious experience.
The neural correlates of consciousness have been defined as the minimal neural mechanisms that are together necessary and sufficient for experiencing any conscious percept.
Can someone be alive without consciousness?

It really depends on what you mean by “someone.” A human organism can be alive without any capacity for consciousness. One example is a human fetus  in the early stages. Another example is an adult suffering from brain injury who has permanently lost the capacity of consciousness. However, personhood is defined by a human organism having the capacity for consciousness.

After your brain decomposes and ceases to exist when once you die where will your consciousness be?
You don't exist in this form after your death, your consciousness too doesn't exist anymore.
Then who gets what?
Isn't that evidence enough that your thinking is irrational?

Krishna: No “thinking” anymore.

Scientific evidence says your body gets decomposes and disintegrated . As soon as blood circulation and respiration stop, the body has no way of getting oxygen or removing wastes. Excess carbon dioxide causes an acidic environment, causing membranes in cells to rupture. The membranes release enzymes that begin eating the cells from the inside out.

Decomposition is the process in which the organs and complex molecules of animal and human bodies break down into simple organic matter over time. In vertebrates, five stages of decomposition are typically recognized: fresh, bloat, active decay, advanced decay, and dry/skeletonized.

Main factors influencing the decomposition process:

The climate and temperature in which a corpse decomposes can have great effect on the rate of decomposition. Higher temperatures accelerate the physiological reactions in the body after death and speed up the rate of decomposition, and cooler temperatures may slow the rate of decomposition.

The amount of moisture in the environment in which a corpse decomposes also has an effect on the rate of decomposition. Humid environments will speed up the rate of decomposition and will influence adipocere formation. In contrast, more arid environments will see corpses dry up faster and decompose more slowly.

Whether the corpse is in a more anaerobic or aerobic environment will also influence the rate of decomposition. The more oxygen there is available the more rapid decomposition will take place. This is because the microorganisms required for decomposition require oxygen to live and thus facilitate decomposition. Lower oxygen levels will have the opposite effect. (1)

Submersion in water typically slows decomposition. The rate of loss of heat is higher in water and the progression through algor mortis is therefore faster. Cool temperatures slow bacterial growth.

Body size is an important factor that will also influence the rate of decomposition. A larger body mass and more fat will decompose more rapidly. This is because after death, fats will liquify, accounting for a large portion of decomposition. People with a lower fat percentage will decompose more slowly.

The cause of death can also influence the rate of decomposition, mainly by speeding it up. Fatal wounds like stab wounds or other lacerations on the body attract insects .

Microbes, primarily bacteria and fungi, play a crucial role in the decomposition of bodies by breaking down organic matter into simpler compounds through enzymatic processes, essentially recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem by digesting tissues and releasing gases like carbon dioxide and methane, which contributes to the bloating and foul odors associated with decay; this process is known as putrefaction.

During and after the decomposition, the released atoms and molecules will become parts of other things - both living and non-living. And the recycling process starts.

Your body too is not yours in this universe. The atoms and particles that are borrowed from the universe for a life time must be returned to it after your death to get recycled.

That’s it. Nothing more and nothing less.

Accept the evidence based facts.
