President Donald Trump said the U.S. used a secret weapon he called "The Discombobulator" to disable Venezuelan equipment when the U.S. captured Nicolás Maduro .

He said it caused Venezuelan defense systems, including Russian and Chinese rockets, to "not work," and that forces "pressed buttons and nothing worked" during the operation, although a senior U.S. official told CNN that Trump may have been conflating several existing technologies, such as cyber tools to disable warning systems and acoustic or directed‑energy systems, rather than referring to a single, undisclosed device. Trump praised the strength of the US military and suggested the weapon is unique to the United States. (4)

The world started speculating now. Did US really use a secret 'sonic weapon' during the Venezuela raid?

Some unverified reports say that Soldiers vomited blood and bled from the nose too. The guards reportedly described an intense sound wave that caused severe physical reactions and made soldiers collapse. “It was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly, I felt like my head was exploding from the inside,” the account said. Multiple soldiers reportedly began bleeding and many could not stand.

Sonic weapons are designed to use powerful sound waves to disorient or incapacitate people. Experts say such waves can cause headaches, confusion, balance problems, and even hearing damage. They are not banned under international law, but their potential long‑term effects have drawn scrutiny. (2,3)

However,

sonic and directed-energy weapons aren't just ideas on paper. Militaries have pursued devices that use sound or electromagnetic energy to disorient or slow people. These are more commonly referred to in defense chatter as either directed-energy or acoustic devices. To be sure, experts note the versions known today are primarily non-lethal tools-designed for crowd control or warnings, not to decide battles. And no sonic device has been verified to have produced those extreme physiological effects some witnesses testified to. (1)

But without the declassification of verifiable information, the story of a "secret sonic weapon" remains an intriguing claim rather than an ascertained fact.

So electronic warfare tools like jamming radar, drone use-suggests the US went ahead to use a range of high capabilities.

What are the ones that were actually used? The answer is blowing in the wind!
