The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed - Albert Einstein
Was Einstein talking like an artist or a scientist when he said those words?
What is a mystery actually?
It is anything that is kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown, like the mysteries of nature. Any affair, thing, or person that presents features or qualities so obscure as to arouse curiosity or speculation. A novel, short story, play, or film whose plot involves a crime or other event that remains puzzlingly unsettled until the very end. Obscure, puzzling, or mysterious quality or character, like the mystery of Mona Lisa's smile.
I see here most of it is used in terms of art than science. Art says there is beauty in mystery of Nature - can we include human nature too here? Artists think there is romance in mystery. So they want to deal with it by keeping the mystery part of it intact. And they invent a story or theory to explain that mystery with all their imagination and with the help of literature. Yes, the moon is beautiful - shining like a silver ball in the sky. Let us keep it in that way. How about adding more mystery by telling a story about its creation? Maybe we can add more romance to it? Keep people's interest intact in this mystery by not unlocking it. Isn't it a beautiful dream world?
Wait a minute, says science, I am interested in this mystery too. Yes, there is beauty in mystery. But why not study it in detail to understand it, unravel it and see what made it so beautiful? How about removing a baseless belief about it and in the process why not educate people to utilize a phenomenon in a better manner and help the mankind? How much time do you want to spend in dreams? Wake up to reality, accept it and face it boldly.
Now over to people to decide what to do with mysteries.
