Krishna:

That is because of media hype. Media makes someone greater than others. It sculpts the common man’s perception.

But you don’t grade scientists like that. With many flaws in intelligence measurements, how can you decide and grade people? There is no number one, two or three. That’s all! Don’t try to grade them, the effort will be an utter flop.

All scientists who contribute something to the knowledge bank are great.

There are scientists 1* whose work saved millions of lives. Aren’t they great?

There are some who refused to patent their work and provided free access to everyone. Aren’t they great? 2**

There are scientists who didn’t even sleep and eat properly until they came up with covid vaccine and other treatments during the covid 19 pandemic 3***. I read their inspiring stories and thought these scientists are really, really great.

I can name several scientists whose work surpassed the common names media project as ‘great’.

Stop falling into the media trap. All scientists who work for the good of the world are great. Period.

The Unknown Scientist is great too

1*A few examples:

Edward Jenner: Developed the smallpox vaccine, which is credited with saving approximately 530 million lives.

Jonas Salk: Created the polio vaccine, significantly reducing the incidence of polio.

Alexander Fleming: Discovered penicillin, the first true antibiotic, which has saved hundreds of millions of lives.

Sir Ronald Ross: Identified the link between mosquitoes and malaria, leading to the development of malaria treatments.

Alan Turing: Helped crack the Enigma code during World War II, which has had a profound impact on military and scientific advancements.

These scientists' work has had a profound effect on public health and medical practices, making their contributions invaluable to humanity.

5 Scientists Who Saved Millions Of Lives With Their Inventions

2** Examples:

Tim Berners-Lee, Jonas Edward Salk, Marie Curie, John Walker, Indian Scientists who Refused To Patent Tuberculosis Genome

Why I place these scientists a little bit above others...
