Science-Art courses

We want to give information on science-art courses around the world. kkArtLab is one of the sites where you can learn about Bioptical art. This is a free course and started on experimental basis. If this succeeds - as artists find it too technical to follow and we are trying to simplify it - we will start courses in Biology and other science subject based art.

1. You can learn Bioptical art taught by Mr. Iliescu, who has more than fifty years of experience in the Bioptical art research,…

Bioptical Art - Cabinet for visual psychotherapy

Composition of  Bioptical Art no different, at first sight,

of the conventional compositions. Significant effects occur in

contemplation, with the device with mirrors.

But artistic value and effectiveness in communication depends on the talent and traditional training of the artist.

 I repeat these effects:

Psychophysical mixture of colors, retinal cooperation, antispace in art, spatial harmony, bispace in art, psychic…

Sorry, my intellectual integrity doesn't allow me to blindly follow the world!

“Intellectual integrity made it quite impossible for me to accept the myths and dogmas of even very great scientists, more particularly of the belligerent and so-called advanced nations. Indeed, those intellectuals who accepted them were abdicating their functions for the joy of feeling themselves at one with the herd.”— Bertrand Russell 1872-1969.

How true!

Most of my articles I write on science, art, science-art and science based art are highly critical of the trends in the…

Where is the art in art science projects?

Recently I came across some "artscience" projects sites on internet - you can see one here: http://2011.igem.org/Team:ArtScienceBangalore and another here: http://www.artscatalyst.org/projects/detail/escapevehicle6/

. After reading the project information they gave on their website pages, I felt there is absolutely no art in them! They are completely…

Is there a necessity for an international body to deal with science-art and science based art?

( First Posted by Dr. Krishna Kumari Challa on May 31, 2012 at 9:36am in the group science based art on Art Lab)

Is there a necessity for an international body to deal with science-art and science based art?

Yes, there is! What is lacking in the international arena with regard to science art and science based art to start such an organization now? Aren't there enough already? Yes, there are a few science-art organizations that work at international level like the SymbioticA and…

I am pleased to impart to you some information on my activity in the field of fine arts, activity which resulted from my profession of specialist in optical systems.
My works may lead to architectonic constructions where optics holds an important role, especially by inducing restful sensations due to images and sounds captured from the outer universe (sun, moon, stars, sounds of the…

Do artists really think about science while creating some of their works?

Why are Science-artists facing difficulties in the art world?

Recently a friend of mine who deals with Maths and art combination said these words:

The art I create is made of fractals. Fractals are sets of numbers that when graphed show a repeating pattern. This is several fractals, they have been manipulated and composed into a piece of abstract art. Odd, isn't it that a mathematical construct based on abstract ideas formuated abstract art...a truly abstract painting. I worked many hours on it, in many stages on several pieces of software. I…

Professional courses and profession in science and technology related art

Somebody recently asked me this question: I am very interested to know more on mutli-disciplines of art, science and technology. How does one find an ideal profession to practice all three of these disciplines, may I ask?

My reply:

You can do an academic course to create technology assisted art. An ideal profession to practice sci-art is to become an independent sci-artist! At present there are a few  academic courses to train people in this field - please see another blog of…

Looking at art through the glass of science

Coming from the field of science, I have a different set of standards and definitions for art and sometimes they are too high to the liking of some artists. Some understand, analyse and follow and some don't. I bring "Inventing or discovering something new " to the art field too and "creating something new" is my motive in art. Am I looking at art through the glass of science? Maybe I am. And I am happy with this approach because it enriches art and makes my work stand out. And I listen to…
